HOLD THE BORING..... AND BE CREATIVE!

January and weight loss diets go hand and hand with a new year upon us. Our bodies are all different, and we play the diet game “lose it” “gain it”! I know I played that game through my teenage years, and then I went back to my roots and thought about the philosophy my grandfather taught me, stay true to yourself and listen to your body. Healthy Lifestyle Cooking is a fundamental approach to losing weight and maintaining healthy eating habits, after all, you are what you eat.

Understanding how we feed our bodies is the key goal in my seminar…how the food we prepare and eat our meals affects our bodies.

Keep it Simple …

Remember, food is an anchor in life! Start by planning a menu before you go shopping this will help you stay focused on menu ingredients. I find shopping daily or a couple of days ensures I have the freshness ingredients available. Inventory your refrigerator and pantry before shopping…Oh, that’s me knowing what I have at in the kitchen at all times, but it is essential!

Eating Mindfully…

Sit quietly at your table with no TV, cell, or any other devices. Have all the food you intend to eat on the table in front of you before starting your meal. Give full attention to your eating by focusing on the process of eating and enjoying your meal. Slow down the process of eating your meal, as my Daddy always said the food is not going anywhere, this is family time to enjoy a healthy meal. Observe the sensation of picking up the food you have prepared and placing into your mouth for your body to enjoy.

Food as Fuel for your Body…

When you start thinking of food as a fuel, you will begin to realize how unnecessary a lot of the snacks you are eating are just fillers, not fuel. When planning your meals, ask yourself, where is my protein, fiber, fresh greens, and healthy fats? These critical questions to yourself will help you create a balanced meal and help you overcome the unnecessary snacking and over eating.

Be Creative…Be Sassy in your Cooking…

There is a widespread belief that healthy cooking is boring. Wrong! Creating with fresh raw ingredients is the best way to release your inner soul and the daily stress of the day. All recipes are a base, and you have the power to suit your taste.
