As we move forward into summer, Coronavirus is still looming like a big monsoon-desert storm.  There is still a lot that we don’t know, a lot of misinformation and a lot that we still must be vigilant about.  Here are the latest updates and pieces of important information to know to keep yourself safe as the world continues to learn how to live outside of lock-down.

As I write this, diagnosed cases of Covid-19 are rising again.  As of this week, Arizona  has the highest reported cases to date and we now rank 13th in the country for cases diagnosed.  I think this was expected as many businesses started to re-open and it reminds us that we still need to be conservative with our social calendar.  Yes, we should still be wearing masks and social distancing.

Other things to remember:

Hand washing is number 1.  If you can’t find soap and water, hand sanitizer is the next, best bet.

IV Vitamin C protocols are currently being studied and have shown to be effective in increasing immunity that can help you fend off infection as well as decrease symptoms and sick time in early findings.  Other supplements can be helpful as well either taken by mouth or through IV administration.

If you have chronic inflammatory conditions like heart issues, diabetes or pulmonary conditions, make sure you are managing them and working towards improving or repairing these conditions to the best of your ability.

Overall immune boosting is everything.  Whether you are very healthy or still trying to get there, it’s important to make sure your immunity is strong.  Diet, lifestyle and exercise are simple ways to stay strong.

True or False?

Transmission occurs by the passing of droplets through talking, coughing or sneezing.  True

The virus has mutated.  True.  However, no studies have concluded that it is more contagious or more destructive than the original strain.  Research is still being done.

Heat or Sun kills the virus.  Probably false.  While some studies have shown that the virus does not seem to like UV light, you can still get it even if you live in a hot climate.  The same goes for cold and humid temperatures.

The Coronavirus can be contracted from surfaces?  False… sort of.  The CDC states the virus does not spread from infected surfaces easily.  But, it still can so precautions should still be taken.

Will I be immune if I have had Coronavirus?  Possibly True.  At least for some period of time.  Studies have shown that in some patients who are reinfected, the virus does not get worse.  Others may have stronger antibodies and not have a recurrence.  There is still much research to be done to determine what to expect after you recover from Covid-19.
